Film je snimljen u koprodukciji Nezavisnog filmskog centra „Filmart” i producentske kuće Cinnamon Films, a uz podršku Ministarstva kulture i informisanja Republike Srbije i Filmskog centra Srbije.
Dejan Petrovic’s documentary Adjusting will have its world premiere in the Competition Programme of the largest and one of the most important documentary film festivals worldwide – IDFA (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam), which will take place in Amsterdam for the 34th time, from 17 to 28 November 2021.
Adjusting is a short observational documentary that presents a unique shelter for dogs in Europe, a place where animal controllers bring stray dogs impounded daily on the outskirts of the city. By establishing a parallel between dog shelters and societies and showing the process of dog training, the film points to the universal problems we face from the earliest childhood and re-examines the need of the individual to subjugate to the will of the other, considering him an authority.
Thanks to the Administration for the Enforcement of Penal Sanctions of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia, the film was made at the Penal Correctional Facility in Sremska Mitrovica, one of the three prisons in Europe that implement the programme of resocialisation of convicts through dog training, and the only one in Europe with a shelter for dogs located within the prison itself.
The producer, director and screenwriter of the film is Dejan Petrović, the director of photography Dragan Vildović, and the editing is signed by Aleksandar Uhrin and Aleksandar Popović. The sound designer is Nikola Cvijanović, and the music was composed by Vojin Ristivojević.
The film was co-produced by the Independent Film Centre Filmart and the production company Cinnamon Films, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia and the Film Center of Serbia.
Adjusting is a 19-minute film and it will compete for the award for the best film in the category of Short Documentaries at IDFA 2021. Petrović’s previous documentary The Same was also shown in the Competition Programme of this prestigious festival in 2017 (IDFA 2017).
